Default what to get for my 09?

I bought by 09 klx 250 last summer and have only put about 2500 miles on it. Im new to riding but want to know of some easy mods/options for more power? Also i want to know a good street tire? the stocks are wearing down quite quickly.
Thanks anyone

From one newbie to another, welcome to KF. Your question is not very specific...you are asking for easy mods, but we don't know your level of experience working on bikes. You also don't mention what kind of budget you are on. Check this thread:
https://www.kawasakiforums.com/m_100000/tm.htm

Alot of good info for some very inexpensive and free mods. If you are looking for some serious power gains, Bill Blue just came out with a 351 Big Bore kit. They also have 300, 331, and 340 kits available. You can search the forum for info on that and also visit his website, which again can be found in various threads.

Welcome to KF! Dunlop d606 wears ok on the street (for a knobby) and is alright in the dirt if you don't ride like R.C. As for the mods just go back a few pages and it's all in there. Pick out what you like and enjoy!!

Actually the very first mod would be the 13 tooth front sprocket, then exhaust and jetting. +1 on the Dunlop 606, I need to get one on order soon. I loved my first one 7,000 miles ago.

7000??!! I tend to slide the rear too much to get that. That give me a goal to shoot for. Thats good stuff

No I didn't get 7000 miles on the 606, I had one 7000 miles ago. I'm actually on my 3rd back tire in 10,000 miles. The 606 was in my opinion the best of the tires. I'm currently on a Kenda K270, and at around 4000 miles its still at 40%, I guess I'm gonna have to use time instead of wear as a replacement guide. These Kenda 50/50 tires are one tough tire, but I want more traction on the gravel and trails.

You need to get some more miles on it, that's what you need Bought my '09 on June 19th and I've got over 6000 miles on the clock

The 606 is a great tire, front and rear. I'd buy it again.

Deej is probably right about the 13T as the first performance mod. For around 15 bucks and the judicious use of a breaker bar this can be done PDQ.

However, I think one of the very first mods to do to any bike is a decent set of handguards. Read more than a couple of threads here where someone dumps the bike in the first few weeks/months and buggers up a lever or control. Guilty as charged, your honor. Then I was mad at myself for not seeing what the stock "guards" really were - cheap window dressing.

The 13t is a good/fast/cheap go quick mod. A decent set of guards are good lever/control/bar insurance. Probably a good idea to do them both ASAP.

A few weeks/months? Try the 47th mile on the odometer, on the day I brought it home I was a noobtard, barely able to ride. Not enough clutch while turning around, and it stalled and I fell over. Kerrr-SNAP I then had a shorty clutch lever. Handguards should be the first thing you buy. Then I'd say rejet. Go for tires and gearing once you figure out what type riding you willl be doing more.
