Question WARNING! Gas tank lock

Good day All.
( KLx250s 2007 )
My gas tank lock is not allowing me to open the tank. Can't turn the key.
I'm using penetrating oil ( 14 hours now ). And tapping on the lock. No luck.
The lock always seemed loose to the key. ( key would and does wiggle fore and aft. Never did fit in snug. )

SO! I advise everyone to go out and lube the two locking pins that hold the gas cap closed.
Sure do wish I had.
And now what do I do?
I'll keep trying. And hope for help from anyone in KLX land. Please let me know if there is a way to get the tank open or the lock to unlock.

Otherwise I'm after a second hand tank w/a key. Anyone in/near London Ontario Canada preferred. Or further away if ....
BeWell. Yours sincerely M

Can you turn the bike on its side or otherwise slosh fuel around to get it up in the locking pins?

If that doesn't work, remove the tank and slosh upside down...?

Default Gas cap

i think you can replace your locking cap.. with that said I would take a small flat screw driver and insert it and twist... You do have to push down on the cap a bit to free it up.. I put a small dap of grease on mine every once n awhile.. yes you will need to rekey the cap but like on my Harley give them the key # or vin
