want a wider foot peg for 2018 klx250s

Whenever I ask I'm told that since the bike wasn't made in 2017 they haven't caught up with aftermarket stuff for the bike quite yet. Actually want wider pegs and a skid plate. No one can recommend anything. Anyone have any luck finding either?
All of this is new to me so not sure where to start. Thanks.

From everything I've read in forums and otherwise, the 2018 has the same chassis as the earlier ones, possibly with different brackets related to EFI. I just looked into the parts. The same peg part numbers (34028-1361 and 34028-1362) used on my 2009 as on your 2018, so whatever fits it fits yours. Oddly enough the pegs on my 2009 are the same as on my KLX650C too. I picked up a low buck set from ebay to see if I wanted wider, they work fine and ran about $20. As for the skid plate, I believe riders in the ADVrider forum thread for the 2018 are finding the frame is pretty much the same for the skid plate and rear carriers as well.

Hope that helps.

Carla, Zeta makes most anything you could want or need. Also, the 2018 is the exact same as years prior.

I have the high dollar IMS footpegs ($96), they are great. And Ricochet makes a skid plate.

I bought the cheap cast pegs to verify if I wanted wider pegs. I found I do like them. The only concern I have with the cheap cast pegs is that casting can crack and break. The high dollar pegs are either machined from billet stock or built up and welded from square tube and flat stock, all of which are far less likely to crack and break. I would only have a concern if I hit a cast peg against a rock or the like and possibly cracked it. Otherwise I'd not be too concerned. I do plan more off road and do think it is worth either buying or making a set of machined or fabricated pegs to use instead of the cast. Still when riding any serious off road where I would put force on the pegs I am wearing MX boots so my legs would be protected should a peg break... he said as he was thinking while writing....

I'm thinking rather than spent the price for the bigger pegs I may bend a U-bend of flat stock, cut/file the V teeth, and have it welded on the stock pegs, just because I can do all but the welding and I can get a friend to do the welding.

Mark, you could use these. I have used them in the past for my vintage bikes. For 29.95 seems better than making my own.

Thanks folks. Exactly what I needed. I've got a pair ordered and they'll be in so I can test them before my 3 day ride. I appreciate all the help.

I appreciat the tip. I think it would be worth it. Kind of like my tensioners, sometimes it's far easier to buy what appears to be easy to make because my time is worth more. I think I'd do the widest and stick a piece of material in to open up the outer edge for goop to go through the space.

That's what I do.
