Valve Questions
So I was looking into what could be causing a hanging idle and ticking sound in my '09 KLX250S I readjusted the bike to factory timing after previous owner botched the Marcelino Mod. Ticking persisted. Cam chain is within spec and the tensioner is doing it's job.
The highest valve clearance is 0.10 the rest are 0.04 and 0.05. One intake valve had a one half of the collet come out with the shim so I know that needs to be replaced. The shims that were in it are unmarked but seem pretty thin. (They also seem to be about the same size). I reinstalled the lowest without a shim just to see, that brought it up to 0.05. My question I suppose is, what could be responsible for such low valve clearance. And does it seem like I'm in for a full valve job?
