Upgraded lights? What works best?
I'm looking to upgrade the lights on my motorcycle. I want something with lots of light and attention getting.
First up, a better stoplight

Does anyone have this mounted? Is it brighter then stock? Does the "flash" work as advertised?
For turn signals, the factory ones are pretty good. What sort of upgrades should be considered? Can we put better bulbs in the stock turn signals?

Is something like this an improvement?
How about more light to supplement the headlight? What can I do and not overload the electrical system?
Thanks in advance!

Basically you can replace the stock headlight with anything that draws 100 watts or less .... leave everything else stock and have juice to spare.
If youwant cheap and quick I would suggest a 80/80 watt PIAA H4 Super White Halogen that supposedly puts out about 135 watts of light ..... about $40
Or if you want really bright.....which I'm doing.....is a Baja Designs Diablo HID about $300
Or if ya want to go crazy get Dual 8" Baja HID lights......costs about $1,000 thou.....our stator and electrical system can pump this setup NO PROBLEM
From doing some web searches and reading at PIAA, I'm wondering if the 80/80W bulbs are old stock.

Single Pack: 10934
Bulb Type: H4
Wattage: 60/55w = 135/125w, 4100K
Technology: Intense White
This appears to be the only bulb in production that matches our stock bulb.

just be careful you don't end up putting an off-road use only bulb in the headlight...unless you don't ride the streets..that would definatly draw attention...the wrong kind
...I went with a silverstar headlight bulb..it works great

As mentioned before. Caution should be used changing the bulb in a n 09 as the lens is plastic not glass.
I,ve run a 100/80W H4 in my 07 for extended periods without a problem, but it does make the glass lens F&*kin' hot.
Be warned.[sm=vader.gif]

Does anyone have this mounted? Is it brighter then stock? Does the "flash" work as advertised? BMWHD from ADVRider forums fitted the 650 taillight to his KLX, he had to mount it upside down but it worked just fine
For turn signals, the factory ones are pretty good. What sort of upgrades should be considered? Can we put better bulbs in the stock turn signals? The problem with fitting higher rated bulbs is the extra heat they give off as westozklx mentioned. The light fittings are designed for a certain rated bulb and usually are not designed for the heat the higher rated bulbs give out. For turn signals this is not a big deal as they are only on for short bursts. LED's can be a solution however they come with other problems.

How about more light to supplement the headlight? What can I do and not overload the electrical system? HID's. However they are expensive (ATM) and also against the law to use on road unless factory fitted.
Thanks in advance!
