Updated list of farkles

Just got my wife's KLX back from the dealership this morning with a freshly installed 351 big bore kit, and since it is a rainy day and we can't go riding, I'm sitting here updating the list of mods to her bike.

Wow this list is getting long!

B&B 351 Big Bore kit
FMF Q4 exhaust
KDX200 snorkel (roughly triple the air intake of the stock snorkel)
Airbox drilled to open up crankcase vent from 1/8" to 1/2" (necessary for big bore kit)
Dynajet jet kit
No Toil air filter
IMS 3.0 gallon tank
Ricochet skid plate
Seat Concepts low seat
TCI windscreen (trimmed down 2" for offroad use)
Nomadic Luggage rack
Pelican 1450 top case
Moose handguards
Protaper Contour 1-1/8" bars (Carmichael bend)
Bikemaster heated grips
Cyclops LED headlight
Trimmed stock rear fender
Aftermarket front fender (but I don't remember what it is)
Neutech Tubliss system front and rear
Michelin T63 tires front and rear
DID 520 VX2 X-Ring Chain
JT 13T front sprocket (stock is 14T)
JT 42T rear sprocket (same as stock)
1" lowering links (with fork tubes pushed up 3/4" to match)
Custom shortened sidestand (cut out 1", sleeved inside, and welded back together)

The "wife's bike", I see how you married guys work it. ;)

Nice looking bike. Aside from all the farkles, how much did just the 351 kit cost to have a dealer do it? I'm thinking about that instead of a bigger bike. If the ? is too personal it's cool.

LOL, I do get to ride it once in a while, but if I'm on her bike she's on mine... :D

They charged $500 for the labor on the Big Bore install. While it was in there, I also had them rejet the carburetor, and flush the coolant and replace with Engine Ice. Total cost for everything, including our 9.5% sales tax was just under $750.

I dropped the bike off last Saturday, and the bike was ready to go on Wednesday, pretty fast turnaround considering they are closed on Sunday and Monday.

500 dollars labor is dirt cheap. That's a good shop. For that price it wouldn't be worth me opening my tool box. I could just work an extra day at work.

Lookin good Bill!

That price is definitely cheaper than a new bike, taxes alone on a new bike covers that cost. Thanks for the heads up on the cost.

That is why I went this route... I figured it would take me at least two full days, maybe three doing it myself since I have never done anything like this before and would have to be constantly referring to the repair manual, labeling every part that came off, etc. And worrying about screwing it up the entire time...

Got my first real ride on the KLX today... my wife has had a few rides on it, but today she couldn't go so I took her bike.

Gotta say, the BB351 kit is awesome! Really makes a big difference.

After riding it on the road a bit, I'm going to have to go back to the stock gear ratio. Have stock rear but the front is dropped one tooth, and the gearing is way too close now, and it is crying for another gear when you hit 60 mph. I think it will be perfect with the stock front back on it.

Big thumbs up to Smokey Point Cycle Barn for the install job! They got the jetting spot on too!
