Default Tm36-68?

Is your Main Air Jet port blocked off, open or an air jet installed.

Bought a used 99 KLX300, while cleaning the carb I noticed the MAJ port was empty.

TIA

Mine came delivered with a 1.0 air jet, but I went to a 0.9 to suite my setup. I think I recall Dan Moore saying he thought his didn't have anything in the air jet hole but just didn't see the jet at first. If there's nothing in there, it seems like there should be a jet. The 1.0 air jet is the standard delivered jet for this carb in its generic setup from Mikuni. If the hole without a jet was machined with a 1.0 hole, then the larger jets would be ineffective. Maybe an e-mail to Sudco or such would answer the question.

Thx TNC,

I suspect the PO may have misassembled the carb. Just ordered a handful of air jets yesterday. Trying to cure a rich condition so my kid can ride. Thx again.

Where in the throttle position/range is the rich condition? Can you describe how you concluded it was rich?

Main Air Jet passage should be open, no jet or plug installed. The Pilot Air Jet passage should have a jet, 1.0 is stock.

Found this in the official Sudco catalog. No main air jet on the TM36-68 and it's plugged in the TM40. So...no jet in our 36.

I didn't answer your ??. Very rich at idle, as in wet plug. Re shimmed a tight intake valve which didn't help the cold start.

Found my prob, large sludge deposit in the PAJ port. Just need to sort thru the hanging idle.

I don't think the MAJ port is drilled thru.

edit:

Main -132
Pilot -15
PAJ - 1.1

Thanks for the help, just crack the throttle no more than 3 kicks.
