Default tire tubes

I have a 2012 KLX 250S. I rode it to work today and when arrived at work i noticed my rear tire was flat. When i put air in it comes out by the valve. Feels like between the tire and rim. I am pretty sure iam do for a new tube. I was looking for yalls opinion on which tubes i should get and where. The dealer dont have any in stock and they say it is a 120/80-18.

While you're at it time to install rim locks .

Why are you in favor of rim locks? I have talked to some guys who like them and some who don't. If you are doing some pavement riding, don't they make it hard to balance the wheel?

Not hard to balance I just bought stick on weights from harbor freight.

I am curious,
For pavement riding, you almost never need rim locks because the tire is aired up enough to pinch the bead into the rim sufficiently to keep it from slipping. However, if you air down a bit for better dirt road and off road, you're likely to spin the tire on the rim, pulling the valve stem out of the tire. And as Pogi stated, with rim locks you just put weights opposite the rim lock.

How much airing down are you talking about? 15 PSI? 10 PSI?

It can depend on tire size and design too. You can go down to about 12 on the rear with the right tire and about 15 on the front...and frankly even that can change depending or rider/load weight.

As TNC says...all true. I pulled the air stem out of my front around 14 psi.

If you're riding lower pressure and braking hard, think about rim locks. And if you do some fast slap, balance the rim. It's not hard. Even a rudimentary balance makes a huge difference.
