I need to correct something in my previous post about the Trakmaster. My side knob tearing was only on the front. The rear was super durable with no chunking of any kind.

On the Kenda Parker, I found it to work in wet conditions as well as most other knobbies I tried. Knobbies that work well in wet/muddy conditions almost always shred quickly in rocky, hardpack. Don't let the "desert" designation scare you. It's there just to accentuate where the tire excels...especially the resistance to knob chunking in rock. I've never found the Trakmaster or Parker to be prone to packing up in mud...at least not any worse than any other knobby I've tried over many years.

So after a little research, I think I'll give the Trakmaster a try. The Parker is appealing for the harder compound (longer lasting?), but the smallest size is 110/100-18, 12 lbs, and more expensive. The Trakmaster is cheaper, comes in 100/100-18 (stock size), and weighs 10 lbs. If I take klx678's advice, the 100/100 would better suite my needs.

Trakmaster’s on the rear with Southwick’s up front is what I’m happy with. I ride mostly soft sugar sand here in south NJ. Do some rocky terrian up North Jersey and PA. I love the price of the Kenda’s and they’re both DOT. They hold up pretty good for me since I try to avoid pavement, but do ride some. I had D606 which worked ok on rocks and hardpacked terrain, but were really bad everywhere else. You can’t go wrong with the Trakmaster on the rear, but they aren’t so great up front. They don’t work as well on the front like they do on the rear in any terrain. To each his own though. Asking about tires is close to asking whats the best oil. BTW, not one tire will do it all. Choose a tire made for the terrain you ride the most on, or for where its most important to perform well for you.

I just used up a trackmaster last season and found the rear to be very noisy on the road not at first but after it wore in a bit. The front still has lots of life left, both where installed about 1500-2000kms ago.

I found this tire size comparison tool useful. Just plug in two sizes to compare, even gives you the deviation in speed between the sizes.
Stock rear is 100/100-18 BTW.
