Thanks

Just wanted to thank you all for making my new motorcycle purchase a no brainer. I finally retired my 1981 honda xl 185s and am going to today to buy my new klx 250. This forum is the whole reason for my decision. Now i cant wait to let the mods begin. As me and my best friend are both buying the same machine it will be fun to see side by side the exact difference all the mods you guys post about make on the bike. After the tests ill have to post our results. Thanks again all and will probably start to chat in here a bit in the future. Happy trails!!!!!!

Congratulations! You'll love the decision you've made.

Having a baseline comparison biek is a gret idea. IF your both the same weight, it will even tell you if it's just feel, noise or if one bike is actually able to out accelerate the other. It would also be interesting to see if one motor is a little "hotter" out of the box than the other.

In all reality... after you do you mods... I can guarantee your buddy will want to as well.

Best time to go ahead and take care of the "Free" Mods. I have my bike pulled apart waiting on parts for the carbs. I still have a skidplate, bars, quick throttle, grips, and SS brake line to install.

What quick pull throttle did you order?

RE: Thanks

I'm not 100% it's the "quick"version. It's the Mtion Pro Vortex. This was listed as the quickest throttle on the Motion Pro website. But you can't order online through them, so I ordered it from another website (tumpertalk.com). It said it was a replacement for CR's and KX's, but didnt speciafically mention it had the taller cam ratio. I'll just have to find out. It's not a push/pull type either. So the second cable will get removed.... and you'll have to hope the butterfly valve on the carbs never gets stuck open. Probably not a problem unless you crash the bike in sand often or flood it in a muddy creek. I guess that's what the kill switch is for anyway.

Thanks for the info. I am looking into switching carbs anyway. Anyone know how much better the tm 33 pumper carb is compared to the regular tm flat side? The pumper is almost 3 times as much. I would think the tm flat side should stop the vacuum lag of the cv carb.
