Thank You For the info
Thanks to Klxster for the recipe for my 2013 klx250s ....stock header, FMF Q4, D0352 needle, DJ140 main, 40 pilot, 1.75 turns out, lidless non MCM... runs like a bat out of hell here at sea level Myrtle Beach, SC.
All the research is definitely correct.
I owe you a 🍻

Thanks Chmerr.. For the membership, when the lidless recipes are followed to the letter, the results are "game changing" to your KLX ownership experience. Warning: Getting tickets for power wheelieing away from stop lights gets expensive !
Chmerr, if you get a notion to go "next level", you have, basically, two options.
1. Add the MCM to your current mod combo - no other changes needed. Optional is to add a Uni air filter with very light oiling. Significantly increases power levels below 6500 rpm with "same as you have now" power from 6500 - 8000 rpm. The stock header limits power 8000 - 10,500 rpm, so no difference in power from what you have now. Results will be easy 1st gear power only wheelies and bigger grins on every ride. Use this "next step" if your riding favors midrange power and not top end power.
2. Add a Megabomb or Powerbomb header, change main jet to DJ144 - no other changes needed. Optional is to add a Uni air filter with very light oiling. This will dramatically increase power levels 6500 - 10,500 rpm. Power levels below 5500 rpm will soften from what you have now - but will still be stronger than a stock KLX.. This option makes the max power possible in the upper 1/2 rpm range. Use this option if your riding favors 5000 - 10,500 rpm power. The bike will pull HARD to redline, 1st to 2nd gear power shifting @ WOT @ 10,500 rpm pulls a wheelie !
Note: Best overall power possible combines 1 and 2 (MCM + FMF header (you already have an FMF slipon, otherwise a peep would have to also get a FMF slipon) + DJ144 main jet). The results are huge power increases everywhere. Power for 1st gear power-only wheelies and the 1st - 2nd redline shift wheelies is available anytime..
Ultimately, there is no way around spending the money for a full FMF system or Barker system combined with running lidless and fueled via a EJK - if huge power is what a peep has to have.

For those interested. After chasing down my ECU that was delivered to the wrong address... I installed it and did a 2hr ride tonight. I did a mix of in town, highway, twisites, and offroad. I did the kdx200 snorkel, slits in the exhaust, secondary throttle plate removal, and the ecu reflash. This is a totally different bike. I'd say minimum power gains of 20%. Low rpm torque is noticeably increased, obviously midrange power is better and top end power is definitely better. I am super happy with this. I felt this bike needed a little more oomph and this has done it. The one interesting thing I noticed is that when at idle it varies about 100-300rpm. I wouldn't have even noticed if the guy at best dual sport bikes hadn't said anything. I am at 3000ft elevation and used 85 octane with no issues. Man am I glad I took the chance on this. I can now cruise at 120km/hr and theres more for passing.
driller212, you should create a new thread - with a precise title - in order to make your information readily available to the membership.
Burying it in this thread is not good.
Cheers!
