I think the whole idea of the mod came about because when you road through deep water the vents sucked water up in to the carb and the bike stalled. Even with one up and one down they both have vacuum and water would still be sucked up. With the mod it won't suck water yet it will vent if tipped over.

OK, whoever has the stock vent lines, can someone repeat the cup of water experiment one vent line at a time?
If either tube can be submerged (one at a time) and the bike still runs, then I'd say Silver Otter has a good point.

I did back before I did the mod. One at a time. one had more vacuum than the other but they both pulled water up.

Did it draw the water all the way into the carb or just up some?
Did the engine stop running?

The thing to do is give it a try your way and see what happens. Be sure to post the results. You may save some work for the guys coming along.

I don't understand why you guys are doing this vent line mods.

These two vent linescome from the same carb float area on opposite sidesof the carb.
Why not just run one up and one down?

I run one vent linesup and one down.
I put the downvent lines in a glass of water.
I startedand revvedup the motor and it run normally.
I believe this is a good solution to high water.
And less stuff under the gas tank, which I like a lot.
