Stock exhaust--Extra Performance

I found a small plug on the bottom of the stock exhaust.
-I removed it and it feels more responsive.

Should I put it back on or can i leave it off?

Whats the plug for anyways?

I doubt whether it's giving you more power. In the owners manual it suggests to remove these plugs when you want to clean the spark arrester. Check out page 105 in your manual. If you don't have one here is a link.

Just a guess here, but I would think that the plug is drain if you get water into the exhaust. As far as performance, I'm guessing that it is mostly psychological but I dont see how leaving it out will hurt anything.

Well remember when you upgraded to the Q4? Its a bigger outlet right?
----Now instead of having 1 outlet (exhaust hole) in the back, NOW i have 2!

Im not saying its a huge difference but its a bit. I know with the Q4 i will feel even more power.

How do i take out the spark arrester? I took out both bolts and i couldn't take it out.

It is the spark arrestor clean out. You need to have that spark arrestor if you ever ride trails on public land.

I think it is remotely possible you might have felt something since it would slightly unstuff a stuffed up exhaust system, but it is also more likely you have "self fulfilling prophesy" here. You expect it would help and you imagine it does. I have no idea which is the case.

If you want to do something for better flow on the cheap consider what the KLR guys have done. Do a tractor muffler with an adapter pipe to fit it to the head pipe. The adapter pipe will have to be bent to suit and welded, but with a wrap of stainless tacked in place the thing would look trick.

Here's one with a turn down tip. http://www.klr650.net/forums/showthr...+Deere+muffler

If you found one sized appropriately it would work pretty darn good.
