Stebel Nautilus horn

So after 2 close calls where people decided to take my lane while I was still in it, I have installed a Stebel Nautilus horn on my KLX250sf sumo. My only other mod at the moment is a rear rack with a bungee net, bike is stock otherwise. I will be ordering new tires next week since I've locked both tires up under emergency braking. The stock IRC's are great for mileage but suck for traction. Not confidence inspiring. I plan on installing Pirelli Rosso II's, a local shop is going out of business and I can get the set for $240, hell my rear tire on my VFR800 is that much. I will post a picture tomorrow.

I did buy the pre-made wiring harness, installation took about 30 min from start to finish. I have not tested it yet, there is a break in procedure for the horn, lol.

:D

Heaven help the next person that I need to use the new horn on.

I did a search for "horn" and nothing came up, hope this isn't a repeat thread.

did you need a bigger horn relay? that's where bikes usually fall short with aftermarket horns

Our KLX doesn't have a relay but the kit for the Nautilus includes one.

DO NOT test the Stebel in an enclosed space, it will hurt you!

I don't have one, YET.

Do you have any pics on how you installed the horn?

My wife's scooter has one. It's the factory installed horn. The thing is loud. You can warn someone how loud it is and it still scares them when you hit it.

Let us know how the plastic holds-up. Looks like maybe a design problem with the plastic having difficulty with vibration over time?

That's interesting. What model scooter is it and what does the horn look like?

I'd be interested in hearing it and seeing it installed.

I agree; maybe it should be placed on a resilient mount although the Stebel catalog lists motor bikes as a suitable installation for the Nautilus. With 18A current draw @ 12volts, do you think the charging system would keep up?
