ME ME ME ME!!!

I like it. You can still do 55-60 without ringing the motor's neck... but you've got alot more potential for slow-speed singletrack. On the slick... sometimes I wish I went with a 48 instead of a 47, but I doubt there's much difference. I think that 120/90 Dunflop 606 is half my problem...

As for 14/47... I like it. 06/07 or a 2009? If you have the 06/07 I'd go with the 48-tooth for sure.

+1 on those thoughts. I run 13/45 . Same, same but different. I too run the Dunlop 606 in the 120/90 size. Works for me.

I think its too big a tire for this annemic bike... down there in the land of kangaroos, y'all have a more powerful bike than the stuff we got, so I could see running the 120/90... but my uneducated feeling is that my poor bike struggles to spin than humongous, heavy tire. I'm going to a 110/90 or 110/100 (and a different tire) when Ii have the scratch.

That's all I used before the 331 kit. It works fine for street and dirt. Went down to a 14/45 cause I'm an idiot and can't cut a chain to the right length without proper supervision. I'll go back to a 47 rear once this chain gets smoked or I shear all the teeth off my front sprocket again.

I run 13/47 sprockets wonderful on single tracks, woods riding and trails. No good for the highway or speeds above 55mph.

Thanks everyone for the quick answers I used my 14 46 today at 11k feet in Colorado over a lot of really rocky wet old jeep trails and the combo worked out great. Bob Billen Oh yes, I had to install a longer chain

I did not ride my 06 klx long with stock gearing...I went 13/48 and bought a 120 link green chain...It was plenty.
I set the snail to 5 and let it eat..after a couple of rides adjusted to 9..then a couple days later cut a couple of links off and readjusted.
cheap chains stretch...it does 50mph at 6000rpm. im running a 110/100 trakmaster.

Default Sprockets depend on mods

I normally run 14 / 43 but my bike has about double the stock power. 1st is a little high in tight trails but that is what a clutch is for. once I moded the engine I had to do the KTM clutch spring mod because the stock clutch lasted 1/2 day of hard trail racing before being smoked. I can not describe how much fun it is to show up with what looks like a stock bike at a ride and smoke everyone 30 years younger on their new MX bikes. On the other hand, every time I ride my friends KTM350 I realize why my bike is only worth $2500 - $3000. and his cost $12,000. with a few mods. But I have been having fun on my KLX for 17 years!

Mods: 2006 KLX250S Original Plastic Garage Kept, When people see it they think it is new!, BB351 Kit @ 3500 miles along with, Marcelino Cam Mod, Head flow work, TM36-68 Pumper Carb Jetted V-36, Main-127.5, P12.5, Needle P-8 3rd clip, Needle Jet 9DZH6-50, Air 10, 1¾ turns out, Two Brothers Exhaust & Stock Exhaust if I need to keep it quiet, K&N Air Filter Snorkel Screen and top Mod, Race Tech Gold Valves front suspension with Cogent .46 kg/mm springs, Rear shock Cogent 7.0 kg/mm spring, Pivot Works Fork Kit, Pivot Works Swingarm Kit, Gaffer stainless brake lines front and back with new fluid & Neutron Sintered pads, ProTaper Bars with ProTaper Sport MX Half Waffle Grips, Tusk D-Flex Handguards with MX Shields Green, Mefo Explorer Dual Sport 90/90/21 Front Tire, Mefo Explorer Dual Sport 120/90-18 Rear Tire,520 ORing Chain, Dunlap MX33's if I go to a track or I know an A rider is going to show up for fast trail riding!, 13, 14 and 15 Front Sprocket 43 Rear Sprocket, Lithium Battery, KTM Clutch Spring Mod
