Sprocket size?

Hey all,

Sorry for such a noob question, but I am a bit fuzzy about going up or down on sprocket teeth. Can someone please briefly explain what changing the sprocket sizes do for the bike.

For example: What does 13 vs. 14 teeth in front do for the bike? What does a larger/smaller rear accomplish?

Thanks,

Craig

13 instead of 14 front sprocket means more acceleration. bigger rear sprocket means more acceleration. vice versa

quicker accleration you could say, best to call it more torque if you go down on the front sprocket and up on the rear such as 13front 45 rear. But this will sacrifice your top speed as you will have a higher rpm at 65mph compared to stock. However if you want more top end speed with less rpms go to 15front 40rear, but this will cause the bike to accelerate slower (less torque). Stock gearomg is a good medium if you plan on riding say 50% dirt 50% street. stock gearing is 14front 42rear

I just did the 13T front. It made a bigger difference than I excepted.
It took it for a little test ride on the street and lifted the front end about 5 inches from about a 3mph roll-on.

Wow! I dont think I was lifting the font end before without clutch play.

Yeeeehahaaaaaa

Next up.
I ordered the NT1C (or sum such string) Needle, clip and collar and the KDX Snorkle.
I'll drill the slide when I have it opened then.

Lowering the front teeth will allow more acceleration, as does raising the rear teeth.

Keep in mind that you might need to adjust chain length depending on how much you change the rear sprocket.
