Spring preload question
After searching on here the number that pops up most for rear spring preload is 4".
Moto-pro website says that preload should be 30-35% of the total travel, that would make the ideal preload for the klx between 3.3"-3.85" since we have 280mm of total travel(11.024")
My question is: for those that have set there preload are you using 4" as the number or the smaller 3.3"-3.85".

don't go getting all OCD over this. try the different settings and use what feels better. i have mine towards the squishier side of things because of where i do most of my riding. i can't tell you the exactsag number cause i just set my sagat about 4 inches and then messed around with it until i felt it worked the best. there are too many variables that go into it for there to be a set sag for everyone. you can start at 4 but it may work like crap for you so don't be afraid of going stiffer or softer. the final number is irrelevant as long as it works............... right?
I am currently a little over 4", its been that way since new when I first checked it. I figured it was close enough to the 4" that I kept seeing on here that I wouldn't mess with it.
After doing some looking and saw the 4" was based on 12" of travel it really makes mine almost 1" offto the light side.
I'm going to tighten things up a bit. I think it will help me out for the riding I do most.
I understand it comes down to personal prefrance and riding style. I was just wondering what the others on here had set theres at or if they realized 4" isn't really the number it should be set at.

It very much depends on what you are trying to achieve.
4" is a good start point for most people.
There is some great info here. http://finecloud.com/klxzone/klx_suspension.html
I set mine on the soft side.
It helps me with my riding style and I don't jump anymore.
