Slippery when WET!
 

Any of you guys ride on pavement when it's wet and lean it over in the curves doing approx. 45mph? What can I expect? My only experience was my Honda 750 and it really wasn't that bad.

The more aggressive the tire the spookier it gets. Also watch out for the oil in the road center.

I've never had any trouble on the streets, but I did slide once in a parking lot, but that was because of the left over ice melt, that gets slimy after a while. I corner pretty hard, and have never felt like I was going to slip. Since most of our concrete and blacktop around here has a pretty rough surface, I will take a knobby over any street tire.;)

I slide all the time, dirt or road....................but thats just the way I ride [8D]

Don't take this the wrong way, but based on your question it doesn't sound like you have a lot of riding experience??
My advice would be - don't be "leaning it over in the curves at 45 mph"... in the rain... with knobbies. [&:]
Street bikes are a whole other ball game. The KLX isn't really made for knee dragging. ;)

I would suggest to get lots of off-road riding experience, on some greasy muddy trails and get used to a sloppy sliding rear end.
It'll prepare you for schwinging the rear on the gravel and/or wet pavement.

Don't like to ride in the rain. I don't mind driving in it, but not on a motorcycle. Been there, it sucks if your not wearing the right gear. As for taking curves in the rain. Let up on the throttle a little, keep an almost up right posture, and gently ride through the curve. Try to avoid the center position and keep on a line that other cars tires travel on.

Now as for when its dry. I drive like a person who had too much caffine. I throttle through turns, lean hard, and drift the rear end for myown pleasure. Knee dropping, no, but I am getting close to it. And when I get on a open dirt field, holy sh*t, becuase I screaming wide open.

I'm with shaydara....when I'm on knobs, I ride in dirtbike mode regardless of the surface.

I live in western Oregon. We get some rain from time to time. I ride year 'round, so yeah, I ride in the rain. You just get used to it, you learn what you can get away with. Every once in a while I'll have the front tire slip, but that's usually from some gravel in the road, and not necessarily from the rain, although it doesn't help. My advice is to not shy away from wet riding, but ease into it very gradully and learn about how much wet traction you can expect, as long as your tires have warmed up, the traction can be better than you think, but still nothing like when it's dry. It's a good idea to practice some emergency braking in an empty (wet) parking lot so you can learn where the threshold of locking up is.

Save the gonzo supermoto sh1t for the dry days, and use the rainy days to just mellow out and go for a cruise (good gear is essential, or there will be no mellowing out, just shivering and laughing insanely into your helmet as your hypothermic brain loses it's grip on reality).
