RE: Skidplate for KLX 250S

If you ride trails with rocks and sticks, I HIGHLY recommend 'wings'. What are they gonna snag that your legs won't ? Mine is beat all over, has done it's job well. I learned from my quad long ago that aluminum doesn't stand up to the stuff on the trials I ride, I had a steel one on that.

Inlight of that, Imade mine of steel. If you look from the perspective of the front tire, it blocks EVERYTHING from hitting ANYTHING. It isn't quite as wide in every area that the utah one is, but it goes up a little higher to protect the coolant lines.

I ruined 2 steel skids on my Honda atv....the only skids that have lasted to this day is a set of utah sport skids.I do some hardcore rock crawling at what was and still is Paragon adventure park and the only trails not run yet is Voodoo which is a red and you may not come out alive if you run an atv down it....

Deej that pick is friggin AWESOME !!!!!! yep ....oohh i'll shut up now before i incriminate myself.:D

You do that rockcrawling with your bike or a 4x4 ATV? My 'context' was a sport ATV going FAST in rocky sections, Z400 to be exact, and the skid was the rear swingarm skid. I can't remember the name of the company, but it was 3/16" and took a beating but didn't get bent up like my aluminum ones did, especially on the side that would jam into the rear brake disk. Those familiar know the beating a sport quad swingarm takes at high speeds in the rocky stuff.. I wasn't talking rockcrawling, as that is for 4x4 ATVs and those skids don't take the same beating, nor is that the same kind of high speed riding we do on our bikes.

As far as the trail ratings at Paragon, they are rated for 4x4s, with a bent towards short wheelbase ones. Their actual ratings for ATVs and dirtbikes would depend on the avenues around the actual obstacles. Many of the trails, especially the blues, can be easily handpicked with a dirtbike, depends on the spacing of the rocks and the areas around the actual obstacles. As far as Paragon, isn't that a shame they are having to fight to keep it open? I love that place, usually make it a 2 day affair since it's almost 4 hours away. Jeep TJ....RE longarm suspension, 35" MTRs, 4:1 TC, 4.88s with lockers front/rear.....yeah, I can do up to the black level 1s (both directions) and down some of the higher onesand ALWAYS drive her home without breakage. I'd have to do a few more upgrades (replace the D30) or trailer her to go further..........

Looking forward to it! Although I think I'm going to saskatchewan either tomorrow (probably) or thursday now. Waiting for the rig to drill to their kickoff point. I hate the waiting game. I could have gone riding the long weekend :(

I'm a little hesitant. It looks big and clunky, and likeit could snag onto alot of shat on the trails. Also didn't i read somewhere that it rattles quite a bit? I'm not dismissing it, but it just looks big and clunky.
it looks big and clunky ... becuz it is... well not clunky but big. it provides the best protection out of all the skidplates ive seen for this bike so far. all the others dont protect the water pump/lines. it does reflect some motor noise back up but any full plate will do that. all in all imo its the best one available atm.
