Should I rejet myself, or hire someone?
 

I've been riding for 3 years, I've seen how they work, I've taken a course on small engines, I get the general idea. I know all the components.

But I've never actually busted open a carburetor. I'm scared I'll jack something up.

How hard/easy is it? I wish that the klx250s jets were accessible without having to strip the seat and gas tank, like I've seen on some bikes.

You will be fine. It's easy. Pull the seat and tank off so you can access the top of carb to change the needle. Then remove throttle cables and loosen the carb boots. Now just rotate the carb and sneek the bowl off. Now change the Jets and put it all back the way you found it. Your done!

It's easy, not as scary as it looks. Take your time, it's litreally pull one, replace it, repeat.

Worst thing on a carb is getting the air boot back on if you remove the carb completely. The actual internal work is simple. If you drill the starter jet just be sure to use a .020 drill and a pin drill

drilling carefully with a dab of grease on the end to hold the shavings.

The cheap mods in my signature has all the work done, jetting with Kiehin jets/Kaw numbers, with other mods that can be done whether using Kiehin jets or Dyno Jet kit.

Do the work and you will be happy with how it starts for sure.

PS - also only need in the carb once. The forerunners worked it out back in 2006-2007 when the bike came out with the lean jetting.

If you've seen the dyno charts, etc, etc, concerning my/our CVK lidless setup recipes - and want to go that route - you'll only have to get into your carb once.
