I hope it works too. I'm pretty sure it will. Like I said before, I can't see any reason for that cut out to be there. There is no corresponding piece that fits into it, at least on these U.S. model bikes.

I guess we'll see. I hoping I'll have some garage time tonight or tomorrow.

Well, I've got it all together, and it is working fine. Easy job, but I sure don't want to be forced into doing it again. Hopefully this design holds up better than the original '09 part.

Glad it all worked out. It sure would be interesting to know the story behind the "improved" hollowed out version you originally had.

Any idea which style you put in to replace the broken part?

2009 KLX250S CA
1st time replaced early 2009
2nd replacement 12/2010 with new design.

Dont know... Replaced it Maybe Nov 2010. Ordered from Bike Bandit... I think..

I looked for the receipt but did not find it....

I've worked at a couple Kawi dealers, Kawasaki is very good about fixing thing like this. (Honda, that's a different story, very bad about things like that.) I've seen several changes made by Kawasaki, some actually cause the dealers to hold bikes untill things are made right.
