Sat. Ride

Saturday morning and its off to ride we go. Bill WR450F and myself on the KLX once again we are stagging out of Jacksonville Or. 9:30am mid fortys with the promise of sunny skys later in the day. We rode out to Applegate Lake 30 miles south and about 1-2 miles from Northern Calif.. We were scouting out a ride that is planned for early June the Cook and Green trail is in
Calif. with the only acsess from the Oregon side and it is only open to motorcycles June to Oct. South of the lake is our turn onto rd 1040 up Cook and Green Creek. There was so many creeks and streams, just an outstanding place to watch the spring runoff. We found the trail head and followed the road up jumping overa ton of downed trees and limbs. Until one tree 8"thru with a tough limb snagged my shifter and bent it out and back at a 45 dregeeangle.
Didn't try to straiten it out for fear of breaking it. It was still useable ,but had to use my heel to upshift. On the ride home the WR450F spit out his oil drain plug . It took me half a mile to get him to pull over what a mess. I back tracked to look for his plug no luck. He used another bolt off his muffler shield. We got his drain plugged and against better judgement we rode off in search of oil. I had suggested he wait while I ride to a country store for some oil,he thouht he had enough it didnt register on the dip stick. Dont ever do it, any brand of oil is better than NO oil. You guessed it it seized up. Now he wants any ol brand of oil Western Family oil is what the country store had so I brought back a quart, by then the bike had cooled and with the new oil it started and had no problems for the 30+ mile ride home

Great photos mate.:D
Thanks for sharing the report as well. It sounds like you had quite an eventful ride.
I've added the pic of my "IKEA brake-snake" mod'. It may of come in handy if you had one on your shifter pedal.;)
Less than $5, but great insurance.
