Rode to the Top of Saddleback Mountain, SoCal
 

Over this past weekend, I joined a dual sport group from MeetUp and 14 of us rode to the top of Saddleback Mountain (approx 6,000') in SoCal, something I've always wanted to do. Half way up we lost 8 riders due to risk/reward factor. One of the KLX that happened to be there had very wide tires and 90/10 tread. At the beginning I told him this was going to be a tough go.

There was steep grades, a bit of sand and silt and rocks, many, many rocks. I kept momentum and rolled right on through, no problems at all.

I always think I'd like to tap this bike for more power, then it delivers a perfect day; no troubles, easy starting, enough thrust and I'm reminded, don't mess with it. It did everything I asked of it, not a lick of trouble.

Yeah but its gotta be hard to read about us pulling power only wheelies and power drifting in 3rd with $225 worth of bolt-on...lol

Oh it is, it is.

Maybe once the dust (experimentation) settles, I'll record the recipe and hit the market.

Yep, we are at the final tweaking of the recipes (with what we currently have available to work with). A cheap slipon, a DJ 2152 kit, a DJ140 or K152 main jet for near sea level, and you're DONE!

You forgot the MCM

Well, MCM is top power for those that are willing/able to do it - and always will be..

We are on the verge of showing the MCM curves overlaid onto non-MCM curves on two bikes with same mod setups.. But, at this point, I/we are getting reports of 1st gear power-only wheelies without the MCM - indicating MCM-like power ramp-up with just a refined carb recipe + lidless + slipon.. Sooo, MCM optional?
