rim opinion
I have been running a Kenda 110/100, but was thinking about going to a 120/100 for more traction in the loose dirt. Our rims are 2.16x18 the 120/100 calls for a 3.00. I was wondering if anyone running a 120 has had any issues with the 120 using off road inflation pressures? Most likley not a problem, but It never hurts to ask.

Mine have been the 120 tires all along. Am I missing something? Don't answer that.:D

hmmmm....curiousity....I recently installed a 120/90-18 Kenda on the rear (winter)...and have maybe 300kms on it, but Monday I got a flat on the way home. I leaned the bike over on the asphalt a bit too far and felt the rear end slide a few inches...scared the crap outta me, then about a mile later I felt the rear begin to wobble, the next turn really sucked...luckily i only lived a couple miles up the road and took my time getting home, drove it into theg arage and discovered the rear had gone flat!
Could it be that the 120 is too wide for the rim? that was the root cause for this?...I never had the bike slide like that on the pavement! |
I did a search and found that 2.15 is an acceptable rim size for a 120/80 and/or a 120/90 tire....so I am okay in running that size.

Isn't 120 what our bikes came with?

deej, that's why I got the 120...because mine came with a 4.60X18, so I figured the 120/90 (I checked to see what size is actually on my bike now) is the closest to the 4.60 that was originally on the bike.
120mm divided by 25.4mm equals 4.72 inches 110mm divided by 25.4mm equals 4.33 inches So the 120 is closest...(in width anyways).....I have no idea how they calculate the sidewall height for the 4.6 by 18 inch tire...do you? BUT I do know the 120/90 has a 2mm shorter sidewall height than the 110/100 I had on before it!...lol And when your as tall as I, every little bit helps! |
