Ride Report
Since some others were putting up ride reports, I thought I'd post a few YouTube links of my recent rides.
This was this past Sunday:
On the way back Sunday, following my son riding my 2007 Vstrom 650 on street tires:
By the way, my Vstrom has Michelin Pilot Road 3 tires - absolutely exceptional road tires, they grip in the dry, grip in the wet and did quite well on this dirt road - a couple of times my son rolled on the throttle pretty hard and got the rear end to slide out a little bit but he said it was very stable.
I used the chest mount for the GoPro on this one, but the sun reflecting off the windshield (when the weather warms up, I'll remove the windshield) made it turn out pretty poor in places. I was following my son on his DRZ400S on this fairly tight trail:

I'll have to wait for my new computer to arrive today before I can watch this, if I try and play a video for more than one minute my second monitor starts to have a seizure and then I have to restart my whole system. Stupid second monitor. GRRR Turns out my secondary video output on the laptop is going bad.
Another ride video, from today. My friend and I ride often, he normally rides his WR250R, but his rear tire was flat, so he rode my son's KLX250s today. I'd just put a new Kenda K760 on the rear - it really hooked up - quite a good tire.
Man, the video makes those rocks look so small, and the hills so flat...
I like the footage from the GoPro that I have mounted to the radiator guard - gives a different perspective and lets you see the front suspension working.

And a night ride from earlier this month:
My friend up front on his WR250R, my friend/neighbor on my son's KLX250, and me on my KLX250. Some of the footage is from my neighbor's helmet cam and some from mine.

Mud flats on Stave Lake can be pretty crazy with the mud bogging and partying, I hear. I've been out there a few times and saw a little mud bogging, but not much. Seen people with trailers full of wood pallets for bonfires up there.
That looks like some fun riding!
It is funny how the GoPro flattens everything out.
I think the only current solution is the one you used, multiple camera angles.
How did you mount the camera down low?
Any pics of the mount set-up?

I also tried two different mounts on the skid plate. One on the side, but the first big rock knocked it off: (2:50 is where the camera gets knocked off)
And then on the front/top of the skidplate, so it was more protected, but got wet/muddy/dirty much quicker:
The software I'm using doesn't do PIP (Picture in Picture), so I tried a trial version of some software, to see how it would turn out (too bad it has the watermark on the video)
