Default Replace tire or not to replace tire ?

Duvallgold and I got flats last weekend as most of you know. It was apparent that Duane had to replace his tire do to the massive side wall damage that was done to his tire. But my tire just took a 16 penny nail smack dab in the middle of the tire just between 2 tread blocks the hole was clean with no apparent cord damage.
So my question is should I replace the tire ? There is a little voice in my head saying replace it you do not need a problem at 60 MPH. But then I look at the tire that has over 50% tread life remaining and say to myself what a waste.
What would others do ?

Cut it up and use it to resole your hiking boots. Dunlop 606 boot treads, lol. They would even be DOT approved.

Hey Scat, what I would do is to continue to use it. That's why we have a tube, I would imagine it will be fine. Where the heck did you find a nail?
