Rejet for Elevation. Wow.

I knew I had my bike set up rich, but, I did that on purpose for the hot desert riding I did, which also included some riding below sea level in Death Valley. Since I moved to a spot just over 5000 ft, and plan to be riding trails even higher, I bumped the main down to 128 (from 132) and the Pilot down to stock 35 (from 40). The darn thing will lift the front wheel off the ground with throttle-only now. I wonder if I should try a 124 main? Anyone else with a 330 or 331 Big Bore run less than a 128 with good results? Thanks!

I am at 3300 ft. elev. and often ride up to 7-8000 feet and I have the same exact jetting as you do now.

It runs fine up to about 9000 ft. and then starts bogging a little bit.

I ran a 124 with the stock bore and it was about perfect. I think with a big bore though, it might be a little lean.

I know with my 128, I have no black soot and very little popping so it has to be close to the right jetting.

Black, is that a DJ128?

I am jetting for CO, will be installing a 32.4 PJ with 130 MJ Mikuni as soon as the shop delivery. Snorkel, 351/Pumper34 carb, stock otherwise.

Hoping this will run at 3300-10,000+ ft.

Good info.

Where you riding in N. Utah? I used to live in Ogden and then Eden/Huntsville up in the Ogden Valley. There's some awesome riding up high on Monte Cristo and of course all through the Wasatch.

Morgan. Took a quick peak over at the Monte Cristo area on my KLR650, but, didn't get out on the trails, yet. Looks promising!

Ah, Morgan. I used t take the Trappers Loop south from Huntsville to Morgan and then into Hill AFB when I was stationed there a few years ago. Pretty country and IIRC isn't it home to Browning Arms?

Indeed! I feel like I'm cheating, living in a place so nice. I know the winters can be tough, but, it's better being up here in the clean air, compared to being over the hill in the Salt Lake Valley when the temperature inversion smog hits.

Ya, that's why I was willing to make the drive from Eden. No smog and no jet fuel. Lotsa snow up in the valley though. 3 ski areas within 20 minutes of my house. In those days you could get home from work and go night skiing at Nordic Valley from 4-11pm for $7. I'm sure those days are gone since the Olympics came to town.
