Default Redline?

I'm not sure if my bike has issues or not, But my bike will not redline. I missed 2nd gear and hammered the thottle and it went to 9k and then bounced back to 7k. Whats up with that? Will it only redline while moving?

You may have hit the rev limiter anyway. I don't know specifically how our tach is setup but the bike may rev faster than the tach can keep up?

The worst thing you can do to any engine is rev it too high in neutral. I believe the limiter is set at 9500 and supposedly a Vortex ignition is available and can get up to 11900 And the HP is still climbing on the Dyno. I read this a while ago on some website and I don't know how accurate it is but your missed 2nd test seems to support the limiter theory.

If I recall, the rev limiter kicks in at an indicated 10,500. I agree, power seems to be steady or possibly climbing at redline. I usaully take it fairly easy on the poor overmorked motor, but I love the occasional scoot up ot 60mph rowing throuhg the first 4 gear in quick succession.

Hey Will,.......Sigh......dude you need to settle down, this bike is not a two stroke race bike. If you want to be riding it 5 years from now you gotta pull the reigns in a little. Either that or get the extra 4 year warranty.

Yea maybe we should get the Vin number from him, either so we can watch out for it when it comes up for sale, or so it can be identified in the aftermath. Hey Will are you there?, Come on buddy, I know you can hear me, .......talk to me goose.[8D]

It was an accident[8D]. It only went to 9k for like .05 seconds. I don't see how this is brutaly massacaring the motor? I had a 4 stroke pocketbike and it was a single speed and it ran at its highst rpm's the whole time. It lasted me three years, now my nephew has it since I have a dirtbike.

Later,
Will

Ok that's good to hear, and I know you really want to take care of the bike. And we are just giving you a bad time.
