Default Rear fender setup??

Happy New Year all...

Bought my bike in July '06 and haven't modded anything yet...pretty much just trolled the board to soak it all in and I can promise you that I have Deej beat for the cleanest bike. It's not like I listen to chanting monks while I wipe my bike down every morning and night, but I don't need to...I've got 1400 road miles and haven't hit the dirt YET! I'm taking some time over winter to do what I can...asthma treatments, some Ex-lax, and a nip and tuk here and there.

Back in June, Ale posted pix of his rear fender mod but I'm still unclear on exactly which fender he used. (I HATE the original KLX250 rearend!)

Ale (are your still around?) identifies it as a "KX250" fender, and then corrects in the next post that it's from a "KLX300" but it sure doesn't look the same as the . (Is it a Kawi part or third-party?)

the fender line is fairly nice in that pic, but if ya look at it you can see the rear end frame tubing hanging out the side... prob not likely but would be better looking if the tubing was under the plastic more...

That's an MX style rear fender for the KLX300 from Maier, I just got the same one for xmas! I'll have pictures posted up soon once I finish the install. I'll be cutting the tubing off just after the blinker in the pic you posted, but leaving the cross brass.

First off Nobrakes, the muzzy looks great with that rear fender. Is that the klx300 mx style and how does the green on the fender match the rest of the bike? Second off did anybody else notice the bike in the first pic had green side panels? Does this mean that the maier side panels will fit or did he have to move/eliminate some items to get these to fit?

Yes, that's the Maeir KLX300 MX style rear fender, and the green matches perfect as far as I can tell. Someone pointed out a while back that it appeared Ale's bike had the green side panel on the right side only, that the left side was still the white panel, probably because the KLX300 side panel doesn't fit and there are no KLX250S specific parts from Maeir. I wish they did make KLX250S specific parts which would give us some more plastics options.

That Mx rear fender looks great but I like the rack on the back. I use it to get stuff all the time. I was at a MC shop that had two pair of Alpine Star off road boots for $30.00 each! (Reg.$130.00) Happened to be my wife and oldest daughters sizes so, I got both and strapped them on the rear rack. It really comes in handy. So, I'll be keeping mine.

Questions about these non-stock fenders.

Will the stock rear rack fit...or can it or other rack be made to fit?

Also, in the photo Everettmarshall posted, the blinkers (I assume they're blinkers) are attached directly to the side of the fender as opposed to an arm of sorts on Nobrakes. Was that a kit of some sorts or a totally custom job (referring to Ale's bike)?
