What did you do with your tool kit? I installed mine with the alternate mounting hardware. I would love to relocate it so I don't have to empty it to use the whole rack surface. I suppose I could stuff it in my Wolfman saddle bags...

i'll be adding a rack too now....kind of tired of backpacks and carrying little fuel canisters....i'm a little undecided on which rack to get...i don't think the klx can handle too much weight in the rear, so i probably won't add any side cases....

Borrego Rack Kawasaki KLX250S/SF 2009-12 - $115.95

KLX250S 2009-11 Rack-it Cargo Rack [PMB-01-2203] $130.15

TCI Products Denali Rack Kawasaki KLX250S/SF 2009-12 - $254.95

Moose Racing Expedition Rack $149.95 (looks similar or same to the borrego)

hmm...borrego rack is 17” front x 14” rear x 10” long and weighs 4.02 lbs...looks like i can use rotopax polaris plate on this type of rack....that's another 3.80 lbs...i'll probably buy a 3 gallon rotopax 16" long x 15" wide x 4.5" height and 6.50 lbs...with 3 gallons of fuel that is about another 25 lbs....40 lbs total...if i carried about 10 lbs sack on top...50 lbs total...is that too much weight for the rear?...i'm planning on doing some longer rides to remote areas without worrying about gas stations too much...

The 1.5 Gal Kolpin fits the Nomadic rack perfectly...

It's on the workbench. I never carry those silly tool kits around town. On trips away the real tool kit will go in my luggage.

I think that this is where the Cycleracks is nice. As it mounts to the passenger pegs it tranfers weight off the subframe. 50# would be a lot to have hanging on the back off the subframe.
