questions about handlebar setup

I bought some ProTaper Contours and in typical NW fashion, cut 1/2 inch off each side like I always do. Mounted some Cycra CRMs and then realized something funky, the turn signal switch and starter switch are super wide, leaving my lever brackets in the bend of the handlebar. This makes the levers, primarily the clutch lever come up at a weird angle. Both switches are wider than the ones on my DR650. Has anybody bought thinner switches to fix this problem? On the right side, since I never use the kill switch, I always shut it off with the key, could I use a simple, cheap kill switch as a starter button? Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks for any help.

I was thinking of doing something similar, do it, report back!

Thinner control pods can be had! The stock ones are the same on almost every Kawi for years, road or DS, and fat! Lot's of DS kits I looked at for my KTM seem to have very thin control pods in comparison.
If your comfy with wiring, it should be an easy fix for not a lot of $$$.

I replaced the OEM integrated switch on the right side with individual OEM start and kill buttons from a KLX450R. I posted about it...probably in 2010 or 2011 pretty thoroughly. It took minor wiring modifications, but pretty easy to do.

Thanks for the responses. Looking at a klx450 oem fiche, just a simple kill switch or start button is all that is needed. I shouldn't need the engine run/off switch I wouldn't think since I just use the key.
