Putting new seals in 06 klx250 forks
Hey gents
Been watching videos and digging through the forums. Very used 06 klx250 that needs new seals. I can't seem to find a manual for the 2006/07 years. The ones that seem to be floating around are for late 90s or 2009s.
Anyone know if this manual for 2009 klx250 will work?

And something I can't seem to find is whether or not I will need one of those cartridge puller tools if I am just replacing the seals.

You should be able to use the details listed in the 09 manual to give you the basics on what you have to do to get the seals out. It is possible to leave the cartridges in the legs when changing the seals and bushings- remove the snap ring on the seal and the fork cap from the cartridge and gently slide hammer the old seal/bushing out by extending the fork.
If the bike does indeed have a lot of hours on the suspension it would be better to disassemble the forks and do a thorough cleaning and replace the bushings-Pivot Works sells a great kit that comes with all of the parts you'll need. Pivot Works Fork Rebuild Kit PWFFK-K10-021

Thanks! I guess I'm just wondering if it's one of those where the spring is right at the top, or the cartridge type (am I saying that right?) where the spring is underneath that big piece that comes out first.
Sorry for the non-mechanical nature of my descriptions. Here's the video I've found that I believe best shows what my 2006 klx250 forks are like on the inside:
Thanks again for taking time!

ETA: Checking out the pivot-works kit, great tip. I live on Kauai though so it's tough to get decent shipping.
