Default Pops from 6th?

Does anyone's bike periodically pop out of 6th after they shift? Usually I'll be getting onto the freeway, go through the gears/rpms pretty good, grab 6th and roll on it to steady out my cruising speed and it drops back into 5th. It literally happens a second and a half after selecting 6th. I try it again and it holds fine.

Its happened a few times lately and I'm not sure what to think of it.

Mine does that too, it honestly feels to me that the shift lever has a longer throw from 5th to 6th than it does 1st-5th.

I asked about it a couple of years back when I got my KLX but everyone acted like I had grown a third head.

Mine would do that in 5th gear-I modded the shift star like the article in planet klx. It seems to be fine now.

Thats what I was thinking, maybe its just me.

I will say the lower gears like 1st through 4th...maybe even 5th have a much more positive throw and a distinct click. 6th feels fine mechanically but something feels slightly different. Honestly I can't quite put my finger on it but maybe it feels shorter or the engagement feels less distinct. It almost feels like once in a blue moon when the bike is running and its in neutral, then you select 1st and it feels sort of "locked out" so you bump the clutch's friction zone and it clicks right in. I'll rip it some more after work and see...kind of freaky thinking I could be max rpm in 5th, select 6th gain some speed then it pops into 5th and over revs the engine or sends me over the bars, lol.

Yeah once, but it was a lazy shift, make sure you shove that puppy into 6th

I only used 6th once this morning on the way to work. It does feel a hair of a pinch less distinct then the other gears but I shifted it like a man and it worked fine. Why it feels different...who knows but perhaps those few random times it poped out was operator error???
