Ok so im talking about the plastic thing that protects the chain and comes with the stock 09 klx.

Do u need to leave this on? Its flimsy and stupid. If i need to leave it on, can i buy a metal one from somewhere?

If you're talking about the top chain guard, then I'd just take it off. I took mine off and like the look alot better.

I left mine on since I ride it to school and such... it'd suck to get lube/scum on my brand new American Eagle jeans

 

mine was off the 2nd day i had my bike...

 

I kept mine for the same reason as cliffsta... (except the American Eagle Jeans Part!)

 

haha,,, mine came off about a month after i had my bike lol...

 

Mine is still on and believe it or not, its still in good shape and its clean.
