Default Pivoting Levers Doable?

Are pivoting levers worthwhile, or even doable on a KLX250s?

The concept seems sound. Levers that pivot rather than bend or break in a crash. The ones' I've seen advertised are shown to fit various dirt bikes, but do not say they specifically fit a KLX250S.

I'm wondering if they are made to accommodate the safety switch on the clutch lever and the brake light switch on the brake lever.

Any insight or experience out there?

I haven't used them myself, but from what I've read and seen, they seem to work ok. I think i recall seeing pivoting and double-pivoting. The pivoting just move forward in a crash (away from the bar on the same plane as when you pull them in, whereas the double-pivoting do that, plus pivot up if you fall over on the side, the forward pivot may not help, whereas the upward pivot might. I just ride with full handguards, so my hands, and the levers are protected.

If only it was true!

Yeah, I see them all over ebay for the klx250s. I'm just trying to find regular shorty levers, but all that I find are those pivot levers. If anyone comes across any, could you post a link?

Thanks.

I got some green pivoting ones off eBay for mine. Was $22 and change shipped to my house from china. I love em. I needed shorties to fit under the bark busters and these did what I wanted.

Is your bike a KLX250S? Did your clutch safety switch work with these levers? How about the brake light, did it work too?

I did the MSR Pro Raptor on my KLX (Link) and am satisfied with the result. Works with two or three fingers.

I had to short the safety switch, that device does not handle it.

Well, it has been true for me. I have yet to injure my hand or bend a lever, with the falls, crashes and running into trees that I've done, and having the handguards on.

I run hand guards too, but they don't always keep the levers from bending. Most of my wrecks are dink overs at 0 mph, stall out, miss a shift, etc. I'm looking at the pivoting levers as one more layer of insurance.

Yes it is a klx250s. It was as simple as take the stock levers off and put these on. Didn't affect switches. Everything worked. The safety is on the mount not the lever so it doesn't know what lever is on it.
