fgk228 - Yes I understand what your saying, totally different style of bike.

Might keep my GSXR 600 and buy a new 2010 KLX 125. Just come out in January over here. Looks really nice and only 830mm seat height. Probably very slow! Handy to get to work on or ride when its muddy/wet on the road.

Thanks for all the replies.

Hardside have you got a picture of your bike lowered, just to tempt me into getting the 250s???

do not be discouraged at 5-8 180 lb 30 in inseam i was thinking i would need a 2 in drop to get my feet down, my new unused suspension sags enough to get front part of my foot down well, an inch drop should be great, the drawback on 17 in rims is limited knobby tire selection, although expensive smaller rims are an option, 2 in less = 1 in drop, possibly less than 17" would work if they have the proper load rating, besides the links do not forget dropping the forks while using cheap riser extensions

Thats great - Thankyou

Can't even tell its lowered or that the seats been shaved.

Really tempted to trade in GSXR and just get the KLX250s now!!!

Will probably still get the 40mm lowering kit that I can purchase in England and have seat shaved. Garage also said they would lower the forks slightly as well, to balance everything out.

Also, Hardside with the 1 inch lowering link, did you have your side stand cut and welded?

Thanks for the pictures and the information.

Why lower the bike if your 5'8"?...I am only 5'6" and also 180lbs...and I like having the suspension for thr trai9ls. I don't have any issues for most riding..the only time to be careful is getting off the low side when on a camber....and you'd wanna keep the bike leaning to the upside anyhow. Now my friends DRZ400 is another story...lol Don't mind riding it on the roads, but once we hit the trails...gimme my lil KLX back!...haha

+1 I'm only 5'7", stock seat , stock suspension. I remember it feeling pretty tall when I first got it, but you get used to it. At stops I just put my toes down on one side.
