Default Oxygen sensor and jetting

Has anyone tried using an oxygen sensor to get their jetting correct? Its just a thought that I had. single wire oxygen sensors are pretty cheap and produce a approx. .5 volts at 14.7:1 AFR. less than .5 is lean and over .5 is rich. In theory a guy could install one in the head pipe and have it hooked up to a DMM mounted on the bars. could be a poor mans AFR-rich lean gauge. Just a thought.

a couple of you mechanics can use a emissins test machine, the old ones, that sticks a sensor up the tailpipe, to see how its running... just a thaught cause now i know there is a few mechanics here, wish i had access to one of those machines....
