Oversize handlebar advantages?
 

Looking for new handlebars and I was wondering if there are any significant advantages to oversized bars, enough to justify the extra cost of the bar and adapter. Any thoughts?

I found an advantage for the regular alloy MX bar with cross bar pad... I put my registration and insurance card in a common sandwich bag, squeezed the air out and zipped it closed. Then I rolled it around the pad under the pad cover.

I like that... and a bit lower cost. Especially since my bike had Renthals on it already.

Stock length braided hoses are a tad short for oversize handlebars! I would have ordered 2inch longer hoses if I had got the bars first. Can live with it though.

I did need to order a klx300R clutch cable which is a few inches longer! Throttle cables were ok, just needed rerouting.

Ive read about mixed results as to cable length. Seems like they fit for some people and don't for others. I have an 07. I had read someone here with an 07 didn't have any issues with the stock cables.

As for replacement cables if they don't fit, is it just the clutch cable or throttle cables also?

I had heard that klx300 cables will fit. The motion pro cable for the 300, 03-0236, is only $16. Anyone used this cable to solve the problem?

I have high bars & Rox Risers on my '12
I had to get +4" motion pro throttle cables but got away with using a '08 KLR650 clutch cable (this is also +4" compared to the '12 cable)

I did get away with the stock throttle cables (with a little creative routing) while I only had the high bars & adapters, once I added the Rox Risers they were no longer long enough so had to source the MP ones. :cool:
