Optimum exhaust system length?

Speaking of CV carb...I noticed the butterfly on mine is off center at WOT by maybe .5mm which I can fix by a tiny amount of grinding on the throttle arm that swings up to the throttle stop at WOT.
.5mm isn't a huge amount but no sense having a slight canted spoiler effect going on on the carb is there?
