I have an opportunity to trade up My '04 Honda rancher for a "98 'Zuk TL1000 with 12'000 miles on it......what's your thoughts???? The rancher has 3256 well kept miles on it and it also has Elka suspension and every other mod you could do to a rancher.......The TL is bone stock and adult ridden.......I'm think of going for it in the even up trade....what's your thoughts???????)yep get the TL)

Hmmmm I'd rather have the quad.

 

The KLX can take you anywhere the quad would go, but I'd wager its not as comfortable as the TL for long road rides. Since I got the KLX I've put less than 50 miles on my Sportsman 500 and 6300 on the KLX.

 

There is also a TL-S that has a half fairing. I dont care which it is, DO IT!

The TL 1000 had a reputation for being a very bad handling bike lots of head shake (some people described as a death machine althou this was never proved.The magazines (cycle world and motorcyclist both ran stories both pro and con ).I come from a sport bike background and have known people who have owned this bike and they have loved it.90 degree V twin it's a poor mans Ducati 900 SS.I've always thought it was a good bike lots of tourqe and pulls really hard.I say go for it.

 

Depending on how you ride or prefer to ride truckman, the TL has some mid range grunt. But not a very good top end. Good luck in your decision.
