Oil Thread.. Yep what oil do you use. Reg/ Syn

First off what's with the Search site?
I'm looking Hi n Low for a oil poll..
Seeing what the popular flavor is?
Also if you are useing Regular, synthetic, or a blend ?
For me I'm running Mobil 1 10/40 Syn..

Wet clutches work best with non energy conserving oil. Automotive synthetic and energy conserving conventionals have friction modifiers that can cause clutch slip. If you do not ride hard you may never notice this slip. Motorcycle specific oil is more expensive but made for the task.

+1^^^
I use the conventional Rotella in the KLX because EBC doesn't want a full synthetic when you use their clutch. I do run the full syn Rotella in the SV and GSXR.

I did have a crank failure on the KLX but I don't believe it was an oil failure because the rest of the engine was fine. I have over 50K on the SV and it gets flogged constantly. The GSXR has 36K on it now with the same story.
The Rotella carries a JASO certification for motorcycles.

I use motorcycle specific 15W50 Spectro Platinum 4 Full Synthetic in the KLX250(300) and all my bikes.
It's expensive when compared to regular oil however when riding the KLX I'm usually revving it at high RPM's so I'm more comfortable with the motorcycle specific oil.

(Bottom line: You want an oil with a good zinc content in the additive package. Helps reduce the friction in your top end.)
