Billyboyr6 and I swapped my SF wheels for his S wheels the other week and it couldn't have gone smoother considering we're in different states. Some things to know/remember when doing the swap.

- The kickstand is going to be either to long or to short depending on which wheels you are swapping to/from, we were smart enough to swap kickstands too

- The SF front fender will hit the 21 wheel when bottoming out AND looks ridiculous at the same time. We needed a black S fender so I ordered one for a 2010 S in "Ebony" (temporarily we have a re-drilled used blue Yamaha WR fender on and it to looks ridiculous)

- The speedo/odo will be off big time (I didn't think of this until after the first ride with the new wheels) I'm going to order THIS, the Y1 model is supposed to work on '09+ KLX. Someone else on this form used it with success but I don't remember who.

- The SF front rotor bolts right onto the S front hub and vice versa. I read on this form that it didn't but it does.

- On the SF (with S wheels) dropping the stock 14 counter shaft sprocket to a 13 (13-39) makes the gear ratio identical to the S stock gearing (14-42) and your stock chain is still the correct length. Rockymountainmc has a 13 counter shaft available for $9 or so.

I think that is everything, thanks again Billyboy for the super smooth transaction.

It steers like a truck now because of that and because of the larger tires. The rear is also contributing to the slower steering. If you want it to steer faster you need to raise the forks in the triple clamps. Start with 10mm and see what happens. If the bike feels nervous or doesn't track well then try 5mm, etc.
This is GREAT advice. I'm running a 4.60 shinko 244 front and a 130/80 Shinko 705 rear on my sf's stock 17" rims and was also disappointed with how much the steering response slowed down compared to the stock rx-01's.

I lowered the triple clamp (or "raised the forks in the clamp") by about 6mm ( a quarter of an inch) and the steering now feels, from what I can remember (it has been a few months . . .) IDENTICAL to the response I got with the street rubber. It's awesome!

I highly recommend trying this ridiculously easy modification if you're looking for a very simple and cheap way to make your sf model sort of dirt-worthy on the cheap without sacrificing it's great road manners. I would NOT, however, start at 10mm of lowering. I did 6mm the first time and feel that it's perfect, and that 10mm would probably be too much.

They appear to be IRC Vulcanduro VE33. Same tire that used to come stock on the rear of XR200's back in the day.

I hope that engine mod makes some real power. Turning those huge tires anywhere has to feel like riding a moped.

hopefully that turbo works out pretty well for him.

Just ordered a set of MT 21's Pirelli MT 21 Rallycross Rear Tire - Dirt Bike Motocross - Motorcycle Superstore in a 120/90 by 17, yes I know putting a rear tire on the front isn't the best. Should find out how well it works in a few weeks.

I am also willing to trade my S tires and wheels with literally 100 miles on them for a set of SF wheels and tires. PM me if interested.
