Default OEM vs Wiseco piston?

Looking to make my KLX 250S into a 300. I have a 300 cylinder. All the necessary OEM bits to equal a Wiseco kit are $30 more. Any opinions on longevity comparisons. Wiseco keeps stock compression ratio.

I've not researched Wiseco products in a long time. One issue I'd look into would be is the Kawasaki piston more suitable by design and manufacture to work in the nikasil cylinder than the Wiseco? I've never researched or heard about pistons being more suitably designed to run in a nikasil cylinder vs a standard steel bore cylinder. I claim no knowledge in this issue, but if considering running a piston other than the OEM Kawasaki for an OEM nikasil cyclinder, I'd confirm it one way or the other.

Another thing to look at would be tolerances. You know the OEM piston and cylinder are specific to each other. The Wiseco may be completely compatible and designed to be exactly specific to the OEM cylinder also. I'd just make sure. I did what you're doing some years ago with a complete factory cylinder and piston, and the setup has been excellent in terms of reliability and durability. Not saying Wiseco wouldn't provide the same results.

Good points, TNC. thanks
The cylinder I have was bought used. It will likely need a replate. I would use Mellenium. They require the piston, to achieve the proper clearances. I’ve used Wiseco pistons in my KDX for years, no complaints. I’m leaning towards oem, and your good longevity results are a strong convincer.
