Default Non starting cold weather/maybe answer

I may have a fix for that problem. Drove my bike into my shed. it stayed 3 weeks. yesterday would not start. (the short story)injected small amount of gas into the backfire screen. (That french word) Wala. started second turn over. What be happening?? The gas maybe evapoating out of the fuel bowl/ to a level that is below the starting circuit. the fuel valve has to have a vaccum to allow gas to go through the valve. No prime on circuit in valve. Had similar problem different machine. Someone try it next time. Wondering if the over flow line may not be a good place to inject a little fuel/ leaving the seat on?

Good on Ya!

No, not likely. The carb is gravity feed so the float sould keep the bowl full of fuel. It doesn't take long for the fuel to get gummy and restrict the idle circuit though, so giving that shot of starting fluid lets the engine spin up far enough to get enough vacuum to draw the nasty fuel out. Next time this happens, try turning off the petcock, draining your float bowl, closing the drain then re-opening the petcock to allow the bowl to fill will fresh fuel. The bike should start right-up...works for me every time. Of course, if you don't want to mess with draining the bowl, you might want to try your luck with starting fluid[8D]

Doesn't the overflow line come from the top of the float bowl? I doubt that would have any effect, because you want the starting fluid to go into your cylinder.

I have had the same problem since I got the bike. Even killed the battery a couple of times. It happens to me if the bike is just cold, as in not run fro a day or two. Even ambient temps of 60 degrees and warmer. I find this to be very annoying! One response I got early on is pull the choke ALL the way out where one has to hold it.

I have done all the mods for jetting and such but it just cold starts hard! After wrmed up it's fine.

Not real in favor of draining the bowl and hard to believe the fuel goes bad in a week.

Any other idea's?
