Default New to thumpers and SM bikes

Greetings,
I recently said WTF and got a 2009 KLX250SF for a new to me bike. My last bike purchase was a showroom new 1995 Honda Magna CD with about 80000 miles on it now. The KLX bike is a blast to ride even if a little underwhelming on power. The light weight takes me back to when I started riding at 16 and puts a big smile on my face. Makes me act silly, jumping curbs, pulling little baby wheelies, etc. Thanks to an article and video on fork oil changing on this forum I just did that this afternoon and now I foresee the elusive stoppie coming. Apparently I had like no damping with the oil in the forks from the PO and mucho brake dive. Pouring it out it was clean and golden like motor oil. I used Belray 5W fork oil and tested in front of my house and now the brake dive is diminished and I felt the rear tire lift a little on one 20mph 2 finger braking trial. I have the compression adjusters out 4 clicks from all the way in. Wife says I can test ride tomorrow. Is the rear shock serviceable? Will change that oil too. Thanks for a great forum. And keep the rubber side down, mostly.

Have fun, I do with both the 650 and 250. You will find more roads are accessaable since surface conditions don't much matter with an SM/dual sport. If you live in an area with a lot of dirt roads you will have as much fun as you can with your clothes on.

Check out the cheap hop up and Marcelino cam timing mod in my signature. I put them there because they work and cost little. I did thm in my 09 and many others, including my brother on his 07, have done them. The reason I prefer the jetting there over the Dyno Jet kit is because the Mikuni jets are readily identifiable and available quite easily available. But that's just my two cents.
