302 lbs., 2 gal. tank. . . WTF? By the time you do the engine performance mods, you'll be getting 40-45mpg. I guess that's OK for racing around town but what about open-road touring through the twisties? That's just NOT going to do it out here in the West! At least they finally came up with a cool-looking color. . . still needs a black swingarm! And let me repeat. . . what's with these TINY fueltanks? Are any Kawasaki designers/engineers listening? Come on, guys!

Kind of stretching the original ethic of low weight, high power and sticky tyres.
It'll still be fun but you'll have it pinned a lot.

I definately like everything about it - EXCEPT the front fender...?

What the hell happened to it? looks like it has been smacked down or the guy at the plastics factory fell a sleep whilst the mould was being cast and warped it....

Absolutely shocking front end to a good looking bike..... I think the term is 'butterface'

The front fender looks to be a little straighter than the dirt modle ,, it kinda has the same shape but less of a curve to it

Here is a link to a picture of my 2007 klx250s that I painted flat black. I also added a Acerbis Supermoto front fender and removed the license plate bracket. Let me know what you think... http://i379.photobucket.com/albums/o...r/IMG00079.jpg

Seen two kink up like a cheap broom handle. I'll stick to the Square Box design.

I was picking up an oil filter today at a local dealer, and I noticed they had a 250SF on the floor. The sales people would not leave me alone about trading in my 1 month old bike for the SF, so just for kicks and grins (I would never consider trading my '09 for the SM version) I had them crunch the numbers. I realize I am upside down in my bike because it is so new, but they came back with $9800 OTD with my trade! Can you believe that? The sales guy tried to tell me he was giving me what I paid for my bike, which I know is not true. I responded with, "So the new model has a sticker for $4000 more than the 250S?" I found it funny they wanted to sell me pretty much the same bike for almost 10 grand. I left with a grin. I like my bike better anyways!

That being said, I'll give my first impression of the new model. The SF sits lower and has firmer suspension. It also has different shaped mirrors. The front disk is obviously larger, and the one thing I noticed that for some reason I really did not like were the rubber pads on the foot pegs. I think they are the same pegs as the KLR. To me it makes it look cheap. Other than that, except for the new color scheme, the bike seemed identical to my '09. Pretty obvious, but just my observation.

On a side note, when he was looking at my "trade", the salesman asked me about the 600 mile service. I told him they wanted too much money for the service so I did it myself with a friend. I saved at least $120, went through the bike from top to bottom, and learned so much about my bike. He told me that it had to be done at a dealer. I don't buy it.

Sorry about the long post. Just wanted to share my thoughts.
