new 2012 or 2014 KLX 250s which should I buy?

I am looking to get a KLX250s as a duel sport for more off road riding. My goal later this year is to head to Idaho and visit some friends. Do you think this is an appropriate off road bike. They do some harder riding with lots of sand, mud, climbs (nothing crazy) and river crossings.

Dealer has a left over 2012 while the new 14's are coming out. Are there any differences between the two or any upgrades made over the two model years.

Thanks,

JamieD

+1, use the $$ saved for upgrades.

+2, you'll need to also order a slip-on ( The DG-R that I'm using is great but loud), the dynojet kit for the carb, and a set of Kenda tires. Then, if you can do the Marcelino Cam Mod or trust someone else to do it, you'll have the ultimate KLX250. From that point you'll have to look at big bore kits and carb replacements to get big hp increases.

Jamie - Welcome to the forum.
Spell it correctly please: dual, not duel. (Sorry, just a pet peeve).
Where will you be riding in Idaho?
The KLX250s is pretty good at off road while being street legal and fairly pleasant on the pavement. If you spend some time in this forum, you'll see a lot of us doing some fairly serious dirt work with them.

What's the difference in the price? If it's a small difference, I would personally get the 2014 as it will have a higher resale value should you decide to sell in a few years.

Shows that the Austrians are better at building bikes than spelling English. How much does that 350 cost? Enough to buy two KLXs?
