Well, an Acerbis Supermotard front fender is on it's way to me . . . . . in black.

It will wind up on the front of the KLX. I'm just not a fan of the big old floppy front fender that comes stock on the bike.

Dang UPS guys must be working some horrendous overtime at this time of the year! I'll bet their paychecks are pretty good!

Last night at 9:45 PM, the UPS guy pulled up. He is afraid of dogs, and my great dane knows it. She loves to scare the heck out of him. Well, she is a big puppy, all 160 pounds of her. He usually toots the horn twice and leaves my package on the front lawn so he can stay out of range of Josie. The bell rang, Josie had sprung into action just before the bell rang and I went out to pick up my package. Wow, my Acerbis fender showed up.

Sooooooooo, as promised, here are some pics of the whole deal.

First thing I noticed was there are some cool differences between the Kawasaki dualsport bikes that were and this one.

The front fender is supported by different hardware. Instead of washers underneath the fender, they now have eyelets similar to what holds the tank in place on the KLR650 on top of the fender. This way the fender is sandwiched between two larger surfaces and should proved a long life to the plastic. Guess they are expecting harder riding with this bike.


I'm going to try and do some "before" and "after" sets.

 

Soooooo why the change? It looks like it's not going to give you as much coverage. Did you see my fender extensions. I want to keep as much dirt and water off the bike as I can.

 

Our riding surfaces are quite different! I have mostly soft sand where as you have a lot of gravel (this is from pictures I have seen posted of Washington State).

Besides, I don't like the front fender on the Kawasaki bikes. Looks way too big.

On my KLR650, it has drastically improved highway riding. The bike was unstable at highway speeds. You got blown around quite a bit. The front fender change made all the difference in the world.

 

Excellent Marty, yes we have rocks, gravel, rivers to cross, and of course dirt and mud. I added the fender extensions because when they sand the road here they use a dirty sand (pit run) and mixed with rain after makes a real mess no matter what you drive. I just wanted to try to minimize the spray over the top of the fender, and it works great. Later man.
