Mud and Snow Stock Tires No Go
 

Went on a great ride in the Blue Mts. For my brothers birthday yesterday. It was beatiful weather after 11:00. It rained all morning. We bought our bikes when they first came out and love them. They do every thing we want and we've been riding since childhood. So f the naysayers, anyway we got into mud and snow and the stock tires stunk in the mud did better in the snow when you your ski's down (your feet). But all in all a sweet ride. The bonus is the Blues are only 5 miles away and I always have a riding partner. Any good tire suggestions would be great. Klx rules.

Awesome scenery, lucky to have such a nice place to ride. I agree with the tire comment, I almost biffed about a dozen times the other day just in my own driveway, needless to say it turned into a road ride after that.

Very cool mini-report. It just whets my appetite. :)

That first picture with the helmets on the posts looks like some kind of warning totem. You know, like the skulls on a stick in the jungle movies. :D

Cant go wrong with a D606. I run a D606 on the rear and a Perelli MT21 on the front. I like the setup, just not so good in the snow (I think).

+1 on the D606's. I've been very happy with them.

2ndclass, I have heard nothing but good things about the offroad performance of the Kenda Trackmaster IIs. Most folks say they are a little squirrelly on the road, but if what you do is mostly offroad on your bikes, then I would recommend them from what I have seen with others I have ridden with. I specifically caution you away from the Cheng Shin C858s. They are a good road and sand tire, but I have found them to absolutely suck in the mud. Others have not had quite as much problem with them, so it is probably just that I don't have mad skillz yet. [:@];)

I've got the 606, perhaps the first one on here to try the 606 on our bike, and I love the tires. I have never slipped on the blacktop, and its awesome on the trails, gravel roads and creek crossings. I have about I have 4300 miles on my bike and the last 1600 are on the 606, and its still got 50% tread left. I have a brand new set of Kenda K270's sitting here in the warehouse at work that I will run when I get done with these tires, but I have a feeling I will be heading back to the 606. I like the fact that the 606 is at least an inch taller the the Kenda. I remember when the tire was new I could tell the difference in how well I could touch the ground. I'm probably still going to install a set of links to raise the bike. My front 603 is the original tire with 4300 miles, and it still looks about 45-50% Do front tires ever wear out?
