Motorcycle License, MN

RE: Motorcycle License, MN
In Texas if you take the beginner MSF course you don't have to take the driving part of the license exam. I had been driving for years without a motorcycle license but I wanted to get legal and decided the MSF course was the better route to getting my license. Good thing I did as I had picked up some bad habits over the years and the MSF instructor helped me get rid of them. I was also pleased that they had some XT225, which are very similar to our KLX’s, and I felt instantly comfortable on the bike. I would highly recommend the course if available in your area. Also, the exam part of the MSF course consisted of doing a measured panic stop, 2 slow speed turns in a very small box (about 2 parking spaces), a 20mph 180-degree corner (brake before the corner and roll on the throttle through the corner) and a 20mph avoidance maneuver.

I have taken the skills test in mn but it has been awhile (lost endorsement due to legal snafu) but what typesh said is pretty close. maybe a half dozen manuvers. I took it and will take it again in eagan. If you are comfortable at slow speed (-25) manuvers you should be fine but it is 1 mistake and you're out ifI remember right. Good luck! You may be able to get an idea from motorcycle manual at dmv as well

Here in Maine the driving test for bikes is on the road being followed by a car that honks for L,R and stops.Takes about 10minutes and as long as you drive normal like in a car you pass.

I couldn't imagine failing on a klx being so light compared to the guys bringing their 600+ lb bike to navigate through a course. My buddie has a 67 sportster with the right side shift and left side brake and borrowed a hondamatic from a buddy just to make it even easier. Maybe I should start renting mine out for the driving tests and make $$$$$
